Fred's Friday Thought: 2016 Holiday Inspiration Brochure (Video)

Aloha adventurers and welcome to another Friday Thought here on Fred.\ Holidays TV. Now, we have a familiar face with us here again and, yes you've guessed it, it's brochure time here at Fred.\ Holidays. So Aisleen Marley is back to talk us through the new 2016 brochure. 

Ok, so the new brochure is out… what can you tell us about it?

Well, we have a fresh new look for 2016, bringing it in line with the new look we introduced with the Winter Brochure back in August. We’ve introduced an eye-catching full page image on the front cover this time around to really grab people’s attention and while the inside remains fresh and clean we have also had a bit of fun with the design and included some quirky new features throughout. The popular A-Z on the back is still there, however, this has proved very useful, and we have reintroduced some maps into the brochure to enable people to put the cities and towns we feature into context and perhaps inspire some ideas when it comes to twin-centre or multi-centre holidays.

The brochure also features more European destinations than ever before – as well as our core Germany destinations, we have also included Spain, Portugal, Italy and the Canaries to name just a few. And we have also enhanced our special interests section so not only will you find those Fred.\ favourites of Christmas Markets and Beer Festivals, but also Active Holidays such as walking or cycling, tours for groups, steam engine enthusiasts, Formula One breaks and more.

I notice that this brochure is entitled ‘ 2016 Holiday Inspiration’ – is this a different approach to previous editions?

Yes, it is. With this brochure, we really wanted to emphasise the tailor-made aspect of Fred.\ Holidays. We don’t want to be one of those companies who can only offer you certain holidays on certain dates and dictate when or where you should spend your hard earned money – the emphasis really is on you, the customer, and we are simply here to inspire, advise if necessary, and facilitate your holiday by making all the arrangements for you. With no set departure dates or packages, you’re free to pick and choose the options that suit you.

From where you travel, how long you travel for, to how you travel – it’s up to you. What we have done, however, is included a range of ‘suggested breaks’ throughout the brochure, to give people an idea of the type of holiday we can arrange for you. These suggested breaks have been designed by our team of specialists to enable people to make the most of their stay in their chosen destination – so our recommendations for the best ways to experience the city (or cities).

Can you give us some of examples of these suggested breaks?

Of course, so most of the suggested breaks we include will combine a hotel stay with things like day tours or excursions, visits to festivals or other attractions as well as some multi-destination trips to cities in neighbouring areas. For example on page 63 we have Venice, and the trip we have put together here combines a four night stay in the city with a trip to Verona and the Valpolicella valley for wine tasting. This, of course, includes return flights to Venice and private overseas transfers.

Over on page 45 meanwhile, in Munich, we have combined two nights in Munich with two nights in beautiful Salzburg so that people can experience the best of both world’s – a charming German city and the breath-taking scenic views of Austria, complete with full day Lakes & Mountains sightseeing tour.

So tailor-made is a word we use a lot at Fred.\ Holidays. For people that don't know, can you tell us a bit more about what we mean by that?

Tailor-made quite simply means that your holiday is ‘made to order’. It is bespoke to you and arranged according to your own individual requirements. The benefit of this being that you can tweak and amend any trip to suit the needs of you and your party as well as your pocket.

I have noticed that this brochure includes a number of pricing grids for many destinations, can you tell us what these refer to?

Yes, we know that people like to have a ball park figure in their heads when researching where to go on holiday so the idea of the pricing grids is to give people a bit of an indication as to what they might pay for a 2, 3, or 4 night stay in the city of their choice. All of the prices featured in the brochure are guide prices only and include flights or rail from London as well as accommodation in a 3 or 4* hotel. However, as all the holidays we provide are tailor-made, customers can choose to depart from their regional airport, take an alternative means of travel (ie car hire), and can add on extra nights as necessary. We will then personalise their city break according to their requirements.

Well, looking through the brochure, and it looks amazing by the way, you notice the different pages with the brands on. I think people will be familiar with the River Cruises and the Expeditions and stuff, but this one here, Fred.\ Discover, is something that people won't have seen before. What can you tell us about that?

Fred.\ Discover is going to launch next year. I won't tell you too much about it, but it's essentially opening up the world to Fred.\ Holidays customers. At the moment, we specialise in European holidays and Discover is going to allow people to really experience more far-flung places and, a little bit like the suggested breaks we've got in the Fred.\ Holidays, what we'll be doing is putting together some packages, for want of a different word, for people to experience these once-in-a-lifetime trips across the world. Think of things that people would put on their bucket list, for example. But, we're making them really unique and really immersive experiences so you can really get into the heart of a destination.

That all sounds very exciting; a little bit of an exclusive there. So all that remains to ask if how can people get hold of a copy?
