Ruhpolding is the perfect holiday location nestled in the Bavarian Alps between Salzburg and Munich. Ruhpolding offers hundreds of trails for the walker or cyclist that explore areas of outstanding scenic beauty that will never be forgotten. If you like to take in the scenery in a more leisurely fashion, you can take one of the mountain railways up the mountain. The Rauschbergbahn takes you to the peak of Rauschberg (1645m) where the summit offers stunning views over the Chiemgau Alps and Chiemsee.
The Unternberg offers spectacular views of the skiing area. Ruhpolding's most famous building is the Pfarrkirche St. Georg which is a good example of Bavarian Rococo. The town also boasts the 'Vita Alpina'; a fantastic pool/leisure complex with indoor and outdoor pools and water slides.
Don't miss the crystal clear water of the Königssee (King's Lake), where no motor boats have been allowed since 1909.
