I started working for Fred.\ Holidays in 2014, but I have a total of eight years’ experience working in travel.
My main focus is on land-based holidays and I really enjoy creating tailor-made packages for customers.
Where do I start…? I’ve been across America, the Caribbean and much of Europe including Spain, the Canary Islands and Greek Islands. I’ve also been to more remote tropical destinations including the Maldives and Hawaii. In terms of scenery, Iceland and New Zealand were two of the most breath-taking places I’ve ever been.
I think the idea of going on a South Africa safari sounds incredible. Being able to see in their natural habitat is on my list of top things to do.
I’ve not been on too many cruises, but I can certainly that my experiences on board P&O Cruises’ Oceana and Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Braemar were fantastic. Both are very different ships, with P&O Cruises’ aimed at families, whilst Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines cater for an older market. One cruise I would love to do is through the Norwegian Fjords, as the scenery looks fantastic.
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of Cologne’s Christmas markets. They’re a lot smaller than the markets you’d find in other cities, but they’re really authentic. There’s a good variety of things to see and do and I was really impressed. During my visit, I stayed at the Maritim Hotel, which is centrally located and provides a great point of access to the markets.
I would definitely recommend the Greek island of Thassos for families. It was where I went for my first family holiday and I love how remote it is. I love Greece in general; there are so many beautiful islands to visit and we’re hoping to go to Kos later this year. The Canary Islands are also very good, I’ve been to Tenerife and I’d love to visit the Hotel Jardin Tecina on the island of La Gomera.
Germany is ideal for families, as there is so much to see and explore. In particular, theme parks such as Phantasialand and Europa Park are really popular. You could even incorporate three or four cities into one family break.
The Christmas markets are ideal for families and every city and town in Germany offers something different. If you’d rather go somewhere a bit warmer, I would definitely recommend Lisbon, which is currently a very popular choice. One of the unique things we can offer is rail trips, which are fantastic for couples and provides a great alternative to flying.
We get a lot of people phoning just to enquire about creating a particular package holiday. They’re amazed with the amount of flexibility we can offer and there are not many agents or tour operators that can offer the same.
