How long have you been working in the travel industry?

My career began 14 years ago, when I started working life as a tailor-made Travel Consultant. I took a year out to backpack around Australia & New Zealand and upon my return I first joined Fred. Olsen Travel in 2010. I initially started in Cruise Sales and I later transferred to Fred. Olsen Business Travel. After three years in this role, I decided to make a complete lifestyle and career change and began working at sea on board Fred. Olsen Cruise Ships. Overall I spent five years working in the busy on board Tours Department, helping guests with their choice of shore tours and ensuring the smooth operation of tour departures on port days. I started in the role of Tours Assistant and later progressed up to Assistant Tours Manager.

Over the years I have gained vast cruise, destination and customer relation experience which has prepared me very well for my new role of Sales and Reservations Manager at Fred.\ River Cruises.

What, do you believe, makes river cruising unique?

The small sized river vessels can take you right to the heart of some of the world's most scenic riverside cities and towns. On a river cruise you can wake up in a different place every day, experience the tranquillity of the most renowned and scenic rivers and sample locally sourced food and wine along your journey too. This intimate style of cruising is a great way to explore some beautiful destinations whether you decide to explore independently or part-take in an organised shore tour, there is something on offer for everyone’s needs.

Which river cruise lines have you cruised with?

In May 2018, I was lucky enough to experience river cruising for myself when I embarked MS Amadeus Queen - the newest addition to the Amadeus River Cruise fleet.

Are there any rivers or regions that you would particularly recommend?

If you would like to experience some of Europe's most spectacular scenery I can highly recommend a river cruise taking in the Rhine and Moselle. During a river cruise journey between the cities of Amsterdam and Basel it is amazing what you will see as you pass by fairy-tale castles, medieval villages and hillside vineyards. Another favourite river journey of mine has to be along the River Seine, setting off from Paris you can immerse yourself in history passing by Norman castles, abbeys and tranquil orchards, whilst stopping at charming destinations such as Honfleur and Rouen
